On the 7th of July, Fr. Isaac Donkor is appointed Vicar in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, in Zhudong, run by the Jesuits. Zhudong is a township located about 20Km east of Hsinchu and offers us the possibility of working more directly with aborigine communities.

On the 1st of July, we welcomed a new confrere. José Carlos is a spiritan in formation, from Portugal, who comes to Taiwan for two years of missionary insertion, after his theological formation. In a first stage, he will be spending most of his time learning Mandarin.

From the 21st to the 25th of June, all the spiritans in Taiwan and Vietnam gathered for a General Assembly. The meeting took place in the Central House of our group, in St. John Parish. To moderate the meeting, we invited Fr. John O'Brien, Irish spiritan working in Pakistan. During the first two days, Fr. O'Brien lead the group in a reflection about mission in Asia. The Superior General of the Congregation, Fr. Jean-Paul Hoch and Fr. Sean O'Leary, from Ireland, also took part in the Assembly. Fr. Jean-Paul and Sean both belong to the first group of spiritans who came first to Taiwan and worked in this country for a number of years. After consultation among the group, Fr. Jean-Pascal Lombart was re-appointed as superior of the Taiwan/Vietnam circumscription for a period of three years. The new council of the circumscription is also formed by Fr. Pat Palmer (1st Assistant, and Superior of the group of Vietnam), Fr. Victor da Silva (2nd Assistant and Bursar), Fr. Frédéric Rossignol and Fr. Isaac Donkor. This council met for the first time from the 29th of June to the 1st of July.
